CTC ACADEMY LTD – TRAINING TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Terms & Conditions apply to all training courses, workshops and educational programmes provided by CTC Academy Ltd (“the Academy”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By booking a course, paying a deposit or course fee, accessing online training materials or attending training, the student confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
COURSE BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
A place on a training course is not secured until the required deposit or payment has been received. Any remaining balance must be paid in accordance with the payment terms provided at the time of booking. Where a student uses a third-party finance provider, they will also be subject to the terms and conditions of that provider. Failure to make payment when due may result in the student losing their place on the course.
NON-REFUNDABLE PAYMENTS
All course deposits, course fees and payments made to CTC Academy Ltd are non-refundable except where the student has a statutory right to cancel or receive a refund under applicable consumer law.
Once any applicable statutory cancellation period has expired, a student’s change of circumstances, inability to attend, change of mind, financial circumstances, travel difficulties, childcare arrangements or decision not to continue with training will not normally entitle them to a refund.
Where digital or online course content is supplied before the expiry of a statutory cancellation period at the student’s express request, the student’s cancellation rights may be affected in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Nothing within these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict or exclude any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
COURSE TRANSFERS, RESCHEDULING AND EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Course dates are reserved specifically for each student and places on our training courses are limited. Students should therefore ensure that they are able to attend the dates booked before making payment.
Requests to transfer or reschedule training are subject to the approval of CTC Academy Ltd and are not guaranteed.
Where a student is unable to attend due to genuine exceptional circumstances, CTC Academy Ltd may, at its discretion and subject to availability, allow the student to transfer to an alternative training date.
Exceptional circumstances may include serious events such as hospitalisation, a bereavement or funeral involving an immediate family member, or another significant unforeseen event which reasonably prevents attendance.
Students requesting a transfer on the basis of exceptional circumstances may be required to provide reasonable supporting evidence, such as appropriate hospital documentation or evidence relating to a funeral or bereavement. Any information provided will be handled appropriately and only requested where reasonably necessary.
Failure or refusal to provide reasonable supporting evidence when requested may result in the transfer request being declined.
Approval of a transfer due to exceptional circumstances does not create an automatic right to any further transfers. Any alternative date offered will be subject to course and trainer availability.
Travel problems, holidays, work commitments, childcare difficulties, financial circumstances, forgetting the course date or a general change of mind would not normally be considered exceptional circumstances.
Except where required by applicable consumer law, inability to attend the booked training does not automatically entitle the student to a refund.
CHANGES OR CANCELLATION BY CTC ACADEMY LTD
In exceptional circumstances, CTC Academy Ltd may need to change a training date, trainer, venue, model arrangements or another element of a course. Where reasonably possible, students will be provided with as much notice as practicable.
If we are required to cancel or reschedule training, our liability will be limited as permitted by law. Students are advised to consider appropriate travel insurance and should take this into consideration when making non-refundable travel or accommodation arrangements.
PRACTICAL SKILLS AND STUDENT COMPETENCY
Permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing and related treatments are practical skills that require continued practice, repetition, independent study and ongoing development.
Attendance at or completion of a CTC Academy Ltd training course does not guarantee that every student will master a particular technique or reach a particular level of competency within the same timeframe.
Every student learns and progresses at a different rate. CTC Academy Ltd cannot guarantee that completion of a course will result in a particular level of competency, employment, income, client numbers, business success or commercial results.
It remains the student’s responsibility to practise appropriately, follow the training and guidance provided, continue developing their skills and ensure that they are competent, appropriately insured and legally permitted to perform treatments independently.
HOMEWORK AND ADDITIONAL WORK
A trainer may determine that a student requires additional practice, homework or development before progressing to independent case studies or carrying out treatments on models or clients without direct supervision.
Where additional homework or practice has been set following the practical training, it must be completed to the required standard before the student begins their independent case studies or carries out the relevant procedure independently.
Students must not disregard a trainer’s instruction to undertake further practice before progressing to independent treatments.
Where a student chooses to disregard the advice or instructions provided by the Academy and proceeds with an independent treatment before completing required homework or practice, CTC Academy Ltd cannot accept responsibility for the resulting treatment or outcome, subject to any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
CASE STUDIES
Students may be required to complete case studies following their practical training.
Unless otherwise stated for a particular course, students have 12 months from the final day of their in-person training to complete and submit the required case studies.
It is the student’s responsibility to arrange suitable case study models, obtain appropriate consent, comply with insurance and licensing requirements and follow all Academy protocols.
Case studies must be completed in accordance with the techniques, hygiene procedures, contraindication requirements, pre-care, aftercare and other guidance taught during training.
Submitting case studies does not automatically guarantee approval. Additional work, photographs, practice or further case studies may be requested where the trainer believes this is necessary.
CERTIFICATION
Where a course requires assessment, homework or case studies, attendance alone does not automatically guarantee successful certification.
Certificates will only be issued where the relevant course requirements have been satisfactorily completed.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to withhold certification where required assessments, homework, case studies or competency requirements have not been satisfactorily completed.
POST-TRAINING OBSERVATION DAYS
CTC Academy Ltd offers students the opportunity to revisit training through Observation Days.
Observation Days are provided free of charge and allow previous students to revisit elements of their training, observe demonstrations and refresh their knowledge within the training environment.
Observation Days must be booked and agreed directly with CTC Academy Ltd in advance and are strictly subject to course, trainer and space availability. Students must not attend a training day without prior confirmation.
Students attending an Observation Day are expected to provide and bring their own machine, equipment, tools and consumables required for their learning.
Observation Days are supplementary support and are not a replacement for the student’s original training course. The content available to observe will depend upon the training taking place on that particular day.
The Academy cannot guarantee that a particular treatment, technique, model or demonstration will be available on the student’s preferred date.
ADDITIONAL SUPERVISED MODELS
Where a student would benefit from further practical experience, they may request to complete an additional model under the supervision of CTC Academy Ltd.
Additional supervised models are charged at £100 per model.
These sessions must be booked and confirmed in advance and are strictly subject to trainer, venue and model availability.
The purpose of an additional supervised model is to provide further practical experience and trainer guidance. Completing an additional supervised model does not guarantee that a student will immediately reach the required standard or competency.
Where appropriate, the trainer may recommend further practice, homework, observation days or additional supervised models before the student progresses to independent treatments.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to refuse or postpone an additional model session where the trainer believes that further preparation or practice is required before the student can safely carry out the procedure.
MODELS AND CLIENT SAFETY
Students must follow all instructions relating to model suitability, consultations, contraindications, patch testing, consent, hygiene, treatment protocols and aftercare.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to refuse or cancel a model where the trainer believes that treatment would be inappropriate or unsafe.
A student’s desire to complete a practical treatment does not override the trainer’s professional judgement regarding the safety or suitability of a model.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY AFTER TRAINING
Once a student begins carrying out treatments independently, they are responsible for their own professional practice.
This includes obtaining appropriate insurance; obtaining any licences, registrations or permissions required by their local authority or jurisdiction; complying with relevant health and safety requirements; carrying out appropriate consultations; identifying contraindications; obtaining informed consent; maintaining appropriate hygiene and infection-control procedures; carrying out patch testing where required; maintaining accurate client records; providing appropriate pre-care and aftercare; working within their own level of competence; and seeking further advice or training where required.
CTC Academy Ltd cannot supervise or control treatments performed independently following training and therefore cannot accept responsibility for a student’s failure to follow the training, instructions, protocols or safety guidance provided, subject to liability which cannot lawfully be excluded.
INSURANCE AND LICENSING
Students are responsible for ensuring that they have appropriate insurance and any licences, registrations or permissions required to practise within the area or jurisdiction in which they intend to work.
Requirements can vary between local authorities, insurers and jurisdictions.
Completion of a CTC Academy Ltd course does not itself guarantee that a student will meet every requirement imposed by an insurer, licensing authority, local council or other regulatory body.
ONLINE AND PRE-COURSE LEARNING
Where online learning or pre-course study is included as part of a training programme, students are expected to complete the required learning before attending practical training.
Failure to complete required pre-study may affect the student’s ability to participate fully or safely in practical training.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to restrict practical participation where we reasonably believe that required preparatory learning has not been completed and proceeding would be inappropriate or unsafe.
TRAINING MATERIALS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All manuals, videos, presentations, diagrams, workbooks, course materials, online content, training methods and other educational resources supplied by CTC Academy Ltd remain the intellectual property of CTC Academy Ltd or their respective rights holders.
Course materials are provided for the student’s personal educational use only.
Students must not reproduce, copy, distribute, sell, upload, share, teach from or otherwise commercially exploit Academy materials without prior written permission.
Login details for online learning platforms must not be shared with another person.
FILMING, PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING
Students must obtain permission before filming or recording any element of a training session.
CTC Academy Ltd may prohibit recording of particular demonstrations, presentations, models, students or course materials.
Any permitted recordings are provided for the student’s personal educational use only and must not be reproduced, sold, distributed, uploaded or used to create competing educational material without written permission.
STUDENT CONDUCT AND SAFETY
Students are expected to behave professionally and respectfully towards trainers, models, staff and other students.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to remove a student from training where their behaviour is abusive, threatening, disruptive, unsafe or otherwise inappropriate.
We may also prevent or stop a student from performing a practical treatment where we reasonably believe that continuing could place the student, model or another person at risk.
ONGOING STUDENT SUPPORT
CTC Academy Ltd is committed to providing ongoing support to students following their training. We want students to feel that they have somewhere to turn when they require guidance, reassurance or feedback while continuing to develop their skills.
Ongoing student support may be provided by telephone, text message and email, as appropriate.
Our main student support hours are Monday to Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm.
We aim to respond to student enquiries as soon as reasonably possible during these hours. However, ongoing support does not mean that a trainer will be immediately or continuously available. Trainers may be teaching, treating clients, travelling, in meetings or assisting other students, and therefore an immediate response cannot be guaranteed, including during normal support hours.
Support outside of Monday to Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm cannot be guaranteed unless it has been specifically arranged with the Academy in advance.
Messages received outside normal support hours may be responded to during the next available support period.
Where a student would like to discuss a treatment, case study, technique or concern in detail, we strongly recommend booking a telephone call in advance. Scheduled calls allow the trainer to dedicate appropriate time and attention to the student’s questions.
SUPPORT BEFORE INDEPENDENT MODEL OR CLIENT APPOINTMENTS
When completing case studies, models or client treatments independently, students are responsible for planning ahead and seeking guidance before beginning the appointment if they are unsure about any aspect of the procedure.
If a student believes they may require assistance with an upcoming model or client, they should arrange a telephone call with the trainer before the appointment begins. This is particularly important where advice may be required regarding treatment planning, colour selection, needle choice, mapping, technique, contraindications or model/client suitability.
Students should not begin a procedure that they do not feel confident or competent to carry out safely.
Students must not rely upon a trainer being available by telephone, text message or email during an independently arranged model or client appointment. It is not reasonable or practical for CTC Academy Ltd to guarantee immediate, real-time assistance while a student is carrying out an independent treatment.
If a student contacts the Academy during a treatment, we will assist where reasonably possible, but an immediate response cannot be guaranteed, including during our normal support hours.
If the student is unsure whether it is safe or appropriate to proceed and cannot obtain the guidance they require, they should not proceed with the treatment simply because the model or client is present.
Students are therefore strongly encouraged to plan ahead, review their training materials and arrange any required support calls before their appointments.
Ongoing support is intended to complement the student’s training and professional development. It does not replace appropriate practice, insurance, licensing, professional judgement or the student’s responsibility to work safely and within their own level of competence.
BUSINESS RESULTS
CTC Academy Ltd provides professional education, practical training and ongoing support but does not guarantee financial or business results.
Examples of student results, earnings, businesses, client numbers or achievements used within our marketing are illustrative and do not constitute a promise that another student will achieve the same outcome.
Individual results will depend upon numerous factors including the student’s ability, practice, experience, commitment, location, marketing, business activity and individual circumstances.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Nothing within these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or statutory consumer rights which cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to the above, CTC Academy Ltd will not be responsible for losses, treatment outcomes or other consequences resulting from a student’s failure to follow the training, safety guidance, protocols, homework requirements, case-study requirements or professional advice provided.
The student remains responsible for determining whether they are sufficiently competent, appropriately insured, licensed and otherwise legally entitled to perform treatments independently.
ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By booking a course, paying a deposit or course fee, accessing course materials or attending training, the student confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
These Terms & Conditions should be read alongside any course-specific information, payment agreement, finance agreement, privacy policy or other terms provided at the time of booking.
GOVERNING LAW
These Terms & Conditions and any dispute arising from them will be governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.
CTC Academy Ltd reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The Terms & Conditions applicable to a student’s booking will normally be those provided or made available at the time the booking is made.
