Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a semi-permanent tattooing technique used to rejuvenate the appearance of a full head of hair. How Does Scalp Micropigmentation Work?

SMP also known as Trichopigmentation involves a microscopic, pointillistic technique characterised by tiny dots.  In other words, it is a form of shallow medical-grade tattooing. This is accomplished using needles with shallow penetration depths (about 0.5 mm) across the scalp. Since there are only three layers of skin on the scalp (the epidermis) and five layers on the sides, the needle depth needs to be fine-tuned all the time to preserve the pigment in the epidermis.
